#vExpert 2019: Bewerbungszeitraum gestartet

VMware’s #vExpert Programm. Wie starte ich meine Reise? #VMworld Edition

This post is available in English

Why you should try becoming a #vExpert ? #VMworld edition

Note: This post has also been created in the German language.

About a month ago VMware has announced their new vExpert sub-program: vExpert Pro and I was honoured to become a representative for this programme within Germany.

What is goal of vExpert Pro Program and why did I participate?

The vExpert program has been created by VMware to as VMware’s global evangelism and advocacy program. In the end it’s a community of fellow virtualization experts, geeks who share their knowledge in form of tweets, blog-posts, speaking-engagements or other fancy formats.

Over the years this ‘small’ program has grown to more than 1000 members.

The vExpert Pro progam has been established by Valdecir Carvalho (aka homelabber brazil) to increase the number within specific regions. As in every community there are a few people that don’t like small/internal programs to grow, since with too much growth the exclusiveness of being a member of such a ‘club’ decreases.

I understand that argument and of course there is a risk that if the bar of becoming a vExpert get’s too low, the quality of such a program will lack. That argument is legit, but VMware needs to think on a global scale about that topic.

#VMworld 2018: Sessions and Experts: Gonna Catch Em All

Here we are again. VMworld 2018 in Las Vegas, THE tech conference of the year for all people, customer, partner dealing with VMware technology.

When I began to use/learn about VMware technologies on a professional level in the year 2010 all of the use cases were around the customers on-prem datacenter. Since than a lot has changed and VMware made a transition to offer enterprise-solution within a very broad spectrum for all kind of use cases. VMware is a key player on the digital transformation for many enterprises.

The following post should give you a short summary about 2018s development in certain fields and which people/session you definitely should have a look at during VMworld US. Go to their session, follow them on twitter and maybe there will be chance to have a private chat during this years conference. Just as a small hint: If you follow persons in real-life in a weird way… that’s stalking! :D

Please be aware of that this is a biased personal perspective on the relevant sessions and people. There are many other great persons out there ;-). Where to find the people? VM Village Social Media Booth, VMTN Tech Talks, Their Sessions, Eye Candy Bar in the center of the Mandalay Bay Casino late at night.

There are much more community events on Twitter. Just search for #vSoccer, #vBeards, #vFIT (That’s sports acutally), #vBreakfest and many many many more.

So far 2018 has been a interesting year from a product release perspective. Let me tell you about a few products and which session/people might be interesting to follow. As every year I expect all the sessions to be available only shortly after VMworld has taken place.

#TopvBlog2017 : Place your vote and see my recommendations ! #vExpert

As every year Eric Siebert started the collection for votes regarding the best blogs within the virtualization field.

Caused by the great blogging-landscape I was quite surprised last year to have reached the Top 100. To be honest this was surely related to my engagement during Partner enablement and Trainings (where one or the other blog post of mine has been shown). Since I have been trapped in Projects for the last months I would be really surprised to reach this position again. Anyway I felt very honoured to be qualified again as a #vExpert and for the first time also as an #EUCchampion.

I tried to deliver content that is technically useful (from my hardly learned lessons) or gave you some insights in my thinking or conference experiences (VMworld videos). So if you took some fun or benefit out of my content I would really look forward to gain the one or another vote.

Here you can give your vote. Thanks Turbonomic (formerly VMturbo) and Eric Siebert to sponsor and execute this event once again.

I am listed with this blog this year: vLenzker (Fabian Lenz)

#VMworld 2016 Barcelona in 5 minutes (Video): Personal Insights

VMworld 2016 in Barcelona. Once again it was quite a successful event for me. I had the chance and luck to extend my knowledge by chatting, discussing (and drinking) with and from all those great people during the conference.

The announcements about VMware’s current and future products were impressive & satisfying for me personally. The powerful public-cloud cooperation with AWS will buy VMware enough time to establish NSX as a key-element within the whole private-, hybrid- and public-cloud field.

For years it is the first time I am really confident that VMware is strategically on the right track.

Once again I created a short video out of the impressions I made. Since I have realized that my filming material was quiet similar to my VMworld Barcelona (& Las Vegas) video from last year I tried to be a little bit more creative with the cutting ;-)
